WELCOME to OTFC,
my brilliant overthinking friends
This website is for you and the whole lot of business that is going on in your head. Together we will explore thinking and overthinking without a) the need for a neuroscience degree b) the overjudgement* and c) the assumption that all overthinkers are desperately unhappy dysfunctional beings that are destroying their own lives 400 thoughts at a time.
As an overthinker and a psychologist who works with overthinkers, I am always on the look out for tips, tricks, strategies and inspiration for the super cool overthinking crowd. But nearly everything I find is either:
Basic
Patronising
Clearly written by someone who has no idea how an overthinker works and says things like ‘just stop overthinking’ (to which I say HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that’s so funny)
A TOTAL DOWNER
I mean look at this joyful piece of inspo
The perfect quote for the office wall…if you want everyone to know you’re a simple thinker who doesn’t understand how anyone else works…
I do deeply understand the many and varied challenges/complications to overthinking - the sleepless nights, the ruminating, the constant regret and difficulty making decisions - and I totally live that thin line between overthinking and despairing anxiety BUT I also want overthinkers to be proud of their many layers, show the world what they are made of, and embrace their giant magnificent brains. It’s time for overthinkers to say
OVERTHINKING WILL NOT DESTROY MY HAPPINESS
or at the very least
IF OVERTHINKING IS GOING TO DESTROY MY HAPPINESS BY GOD I AM GOING TO TAKE YOU AND ALL YOUR BULLSHIT FRIENDS DOWN WITH ME.
So, I hereby proudly dedicate this space to thinking, overthinking, thinking about thinking, talking about thinking…and to trying not to regret any of the thinking, and talking, and overthinking….
*Overjudgement: (made up word) tendency for ignorant folk to unjustly judge over thinkers.
